Visit to Stonebridge City Farm

General News

Today, our students had an exciting visit to Stonebridge City Farm!

Located in the heart of Nottingham City Centre, Stonebridge city farm is a vital green space and much-loved local charity and visitor attraction including nature trails and woodland, community gardens and much more.

In the 1970s, the area where Stonebridge City Farm now stands was once a field of rubble from cleared slum dwellings. Originally meant to be turned into a new school and housing the estate, after these plans fell through, the idea for a city farm was discussed with the local council.

Volunteers spent 4 years clearing out the old rubble and hauling in tonnes of soil from a nearby sugar beet factory, and bit by bit, the land was transformed into a living and growing farm space and officially opened in 1982.

Since then, the farm has grown into a much-loved community space. It gives children and adults the chance to meet farm animals, learn how food is grown, and understand the importance of caring for the environment. Today, Stonebridge City Farm continues to focus on education, sustainability, and bringing people together, making it a perfect place for school trips like ours.

Our students had a wonderful time exploring the farm, woodland, gardens, and also meeting the variety of animals including goats, lambs, ducks and rabbits!
