As the Deputy Head at Easthorpe School, I bring over 30 years of teaching experience across a range of settings. Working in an SEMH environment is where I feel most purposeful; I am passionate about creating a safe, nurturing space where pupils can rebuild trust in education and experience genuine success. Easthorpe is a special place to work—our relationships-focused approach, dedicated staff team and unwavering belief in every pupil make it a community I am proud to be part of.

I am Easthorpe’s Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO), and the children know me as Miss K. I have been part of Easthorpe School since it first opened and have loved watching our schoolgrow and thrive. Working at Easthorpe is a joy, and I am passionate about supporting our pupils as they progress and flourish in all areas of their lives.

   I have worked at Easthorpe School since January 2025.  I truly enjoy teaching in a special needs school, as it is an incredibly rewarding experience. Supporting pupils emotionally, socially, and academically allows me to help them grow in confidence and independence. Seeing each child making progress, no matter how big or small, is a privilege and a reminder of the positive impact we can have on the children.

Hi, my name is Mr Ross. I am one of the teachers at Easthorpe school and love teaching as every day is so different. Outside of school, I enjoy walking and hiking with our dog and going on camping trips in my van.

 Hello, I’m Mr Goodwin the caretaker at Easthorpe School. I am one of the four original members of staff at Easthorpe starting 1st September 2022.

 Hi, I’m Miss Simpson and I am the teacher in Willow Class.
I enjoy reading and spending time with my family. Teaching at Easthorpe is incredibly rewarding—I enjoy supporting children as they discover their interests, develop their confidence, and build the skills that will guide them into the future.

My name is Miss Kim, and I am from Scotland but have also lived in Australia and England and travelled around the Middle East and Europe.  I love reading, music, global issues, socialising, and shoes.  I started working at Easthorpe School towards the end of last academic year.  I work in Key Stage 4 where I teach English and Expressive Arts, as well as being the teacher for Lemon Class.  I absolutely love working here as the students are the best – so much individuality which means that every day is different – and we work together to succeed, from academic achievement to learning to live in harmony with ourselves and others.

Hello, I am Mrs Partlett, class teacher for Holly class. I love being outdoors and deliver Forest school sessions across the school. One of my hobbies is running and I also love cooking, my favourite meal is a roast dinner.

Hi, I am Miss Bowater, I am a tutor at Easthorpe and have the pleasure of working in many of the classrooms teaching PSHE, RE and Life skills. On a Wednesday and Thursday, I teach in Holly class. I enjoy being able to move around the school, working with many of the children.

   Hi I’m Mrs Bell. I am the Emotional Literacy Lead Practitioner (ELSA) here at Easthorpe. I joined the school in the first year that it opened. One of my favourite things about working here is the support and person-centred care that every child receives with us.

My name is Mrs Drake. I am the Chestnut Class teacher. I have been a teacher for a VERY long time and really enjoy my job here at Easthorpe! My favourite subject to teach is music – I can play lots of musical instruments and I love teaching other people to play them too. I have two dogs. My dogs are called Stella and Dizzy. Stella is going to come into school to meet all the children. I am always very busy but that is the way I like it!

                         I’m Mrs Murray, I am a Key Stage Three English teacher and proud to be a teacher at Easthorpe. I love cold water swimming, gardening, long hikes in the Peak district with my family and our very energetic collie dog, Marmaduke. I love creative writing and reading. I have four children and have been teaching for twenty years…and Easthorpe is my favourite school! I love how supportive and kind the staff and children are, and I absolutely love teaching in a creative and holistic way.
